INVITATION TO HOST NLANR MEASUREMENT HOSTS AT HPC SITES In connection with ongoing NLANR network traffic measurement and analysis activities, NLANR is inviting HPC Awardee sites to join the NLANR Intersite Active Measurement Program by hosting an active measurement monitor. These monitors will measure connectivity, loss, round trip time and on-demand throughput measurements between HPC sites. No user data will be captured. The activity will require only minimal support from the involved sites. The equipment involved is rack mountable and will be furnished and administered by NLANR. Normally traffic to the machine is expected to be in the order of 10-20MB per day. In addition to enabling better understanding of the high performance networks, hosting institutions will benefit through detailed measurement of performance to their site because the information will help compartmentalize performance issues. The NSF is supportive of this activity and encourages HPC Awardee sites to volunteer to host a monitor and join the project. More detailed information, including some simple questions we would need ansered from the deployment sites, is available at http://moat.nlanr.net/AMP/ NLANR AMP staff can be reached by sending mail to amp@nlanr.net. We hope you will participate. Tony McGregor and Hans-Werner Braun, NLANR
